Book of Jeremiah Chapter Fifty

Bible Verses

[1] The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

Commentary

V.1 The key to understanding this chapter is that Babylon and the Chaldeans are archetypes for the United States and Russia. This prophecy therefore is against the United States AND against Russia - two separate archetype entities and not against one historical location as some have misread it.

[2] Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.

V.2 This is a message to ALL the nations. It sets the standard. The archetype. It is to be widely published and not concealed and as such is a theme that is replicated, clarified and emphasized in many parts of the Bible. This is about the destruction of Babylon the Great Whore and epithets are thrown at the archetypes of the philosophies and attitudes that have become her nature - and the nature of her predominant adversary.

[3] For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast.

V.3 Well, that is pretty clear. It isn't likely that it is talking about Canada to the north (which pretty much gets included in the Babylon curse) and if one traces their finger north on the globe, the first country you run into is Russia.

Also pretty much makes clear what is going to happen to it - and it isn't nice.

This is the tying verse from Daniel Chapter Eleven, that it is the Kingdom of the North that attacks Babylon, which is therefore, being attacked from the north, The Kingdom of the South.

[4] In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.

V.4 Judaism and the Jews have always had a major connection to America. America was founded on Jewish principles and the Ten Commandments is found engraved upon many governmental edifices throughout the nation.

The children of Israel and Judah came to America in droves, and many also went from America to become major supporters in the restoration of the State of Israel.

[5] They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten.

V.5 This prophecy, both for the present and the future describes America's relationship to Israel because it has been Israel's foremost ally, often only ally on the UN Security Council having to use its veto power in order to protect Israel.

America's commitment to Israel has sometimes seemed less strong under some presidential administrations than others, but nevertheless the US has ended up being its strongest supporter among all the nations in the world.

[6] My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place.

V.6 The scattered tribes/flocks of Israel have not all turned towards Israel. Many Jews have not based their jewishness upon the Jewish religion and in joining themselves to the Lord. As a result of the Great Catastrophe they may join themselves to the new perpetual covenant.

[7] All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers.

V.7 The Jews have certainly been badly treated in many parts of the world and this is one of the things that made them long for the promised homeland of their own. The prejudice against Jews was often intense even in the United States where there were many social clubs and such that they were not permitted to join.

The holocaust in Germany, and the often stated desire of Iran and the Muslims to destroy Israel, are but two examples demonstrating how other nations have felt justified in attacking the Jews, but their situation often wasn't much better in the UK, the US, and many other countries.

[8] Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks.

V.8 While many Jews went from Babylon (the United States) and also out of Chaldea (Russia) to help form the new State of Israel, many have not taken the opportunity to show the proper leadership of Judaism in placing the Lord at the head of nations of the world.

[9] For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.

V.9 The assembly against Babylon (the United States) by the north country (Russia) is composed of many great nations. Initially, it was the USSR, and while that appeared to split up (although it is now beginning to be reconstituted), Russia has gained many new allies in China, North Korea, Iran and others, all opposed to the hegemony of Babylon.

The arrows/weapons/missiles and great variety of instruments of war that are being aligned against Babylon (America) are those of advanced expert technology in spite of intensive effort on the part of Babylon to prevent its enemies from developing them.

[10] And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD.

V.10 Chaldea (Russia) too shall be destroyed because she too has many enemies such as in NATO.

[11] Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;

V.11 America felt itself the most blessed nation upon the earth (and indeed it was), but it took credit for that because of its hard work and ingenuity, and it forgot the Source of its blessings, turned away from the Divine Teachings, and walked proudly among the nations, bellowing its own greatness.

[12] Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert.

V.12 England (and Europe) from which America sprang, are bewildered at how to deal with her and look upon her perplexed by how she deals with other nations of the world, while the poorest nations of the world, those that we call the Third World, remain an impoverished wilderness plundered by Babylon the Great Whore.

[13] Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

V.13 New York City itself is the archetype of Babylon The Great, and while great destruction will fall upon Babylon as a whole, this curse is specifically upon NYC, and some other major cities of the US.

[14] Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD.

V.14 The United States has created many enemies around the world. By far more than any other nation. It has many times more foreign military bases than any other nation and has raised the ire of many people as it showed forth force and destruction against many in those countries, rather than love and mercy for one's enemies as was the command of the Lord. What has gone around will come around, and Babylon's soldiers round and about in many of those outposts will become isolated and reap the wrath.

[15] Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her.

V.15 Jesus' Divine Command, the "Golden Rule" found in every religion, was "Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you."

Matthew: 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Luke 6:31And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

but here, the Divine Command to the Babylon's enemies is: "as she hath done, do unto her."

The nations of the world do shout against Babylon the Great Whore, calling her "The Great Satan" and the most hated nation in the world, as the fortress crumbles and she retreats from their wrath. Her foundations of justice, mercy, purity that made her great in the world, have now passed away, and the purity of the young virgin Lady of Columbia has become the old whore of the world.

[16] Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land.

V.16 The cities shall be in dire need for food, but because of the social disruption, destruction of the infrastructure such as transportation, those in the country will not seek commerce. They will try to simply survive on their own land, in fear of the oppressive, and perhaps often renegade military units, that will roam what remains of the country.

[17] Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

V.17 The calamity will be world-wide, and the destiny of Israel, a major theme throughout the Bible, is tied to that of Babylon.

The King of Assyria, related to Chaldea (Russia), and particularly to the countries North of Israel, hath sought to devour Israel, and most sadly THIS archetype Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, hath sought to injure Israel also, by his lack of fidelity to it in the last days.

It is a terrible story, as any Jews born in Jerusalem will tell you, for America would not even correctly recognize their citizenship, and the confrontation between Jewish leaders and at least one American leader increased in the critical last days of the last days.

[18] Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.

V.18 In the last days we are witnessing the punishment of the remnant of Assyria (Syria, much of the Middle East, and Russia) and we can imagine what is in store for the King of Babylon, the King of the South, America.

[19] And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead.

V.19 It seems impossible that any could fail to recognize that the thousands year old prophecy has been fulfilled in the restoration of Israel, and that the Will of God is being fulfilled, especially when one looks upon the Beauty that is now Carmel, and yet there are by far more deniers than believers.

[20] In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.

V.20 Those who reject God and religion often also reject Israel, and continually find fault with her. Not only they, but many who are in religious opposition. There are many, many more motions brought against tiny Israel in the United nations than in total against all the atrocities that exist in the world. However, the issue is, "Where does Israel stand in the eye of the Lord?"

[21] Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.

V.21 Once again the verses elicit archetypes of attitudes and philosophies that are repulsive to the Lord. The first instance deals with the rebelliousness of the United States, and the second with that of Russia. Russia evoked atheism in its constitution and the United States has turned away from the religion of its Founding Fathers, in court ruling after court ruling. They will destroy each other.

[22] A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

V.22 The sound of battle, and the destruction, of this Last Great Battle of Armageddon, will go beyond any previous displays of "shock and awe" so favored by the American military.

[23] How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations!

V.23 The American military is the largest the world has ever known. There has never in the history of man been anything like it able to reach to any part of the earth within hours if not minutes with its missiles, drones, satellite directed weapons and who knows what else. It is first and foremost "The Hammer of the Whole Earth". America reportedly spends more on its military than the next ten nations combined, and with new technology its destructive power is increasing by leaps and bounds. Who can withstand it? The Lord can withstand it, break it, and cut it asunder.

[24] I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD.

V.24

Surah 8:30 "... They plot and plan, and Allah too plans, but the best of planners is Allah.

[25] The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans.

V.25 All secrets of the universe reside with God, and all the hosts of people are under his power, so that He has bestowed upon the Chaldeans (Russians) the knowledge of the Abomination of Desolation, the nuclear weapons, the weapons of indignation, whether the Americans think they have stolen them from them or not.

[26] Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.

V.26 The Russians certainly have the capability to send weapons from beyond the most distant borders that the US has established, down through the arctic, over Canada, and into the American heartland, to completely destroy her utterly: so that nothing of her be left.

[27] Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation.

V.27 Bovine stock is not really the concern here. "Her bullocks", is actually an archetype for all her brave young men. The young bulls. Regrettably, their day is come, the time of their visitation.

[28] The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple.

V.28 Within Babylon there are few voices that are raised against her. The competition is who can be most patriotic and praise her most greatly, finding no fault in her. Just as during the Second World War, it was dangerous to praise the Jews in Germany, or criticize the Emperor in Japan, there are some few who do open their eyes, as dangerous as that may be, and come to realize that she is The Great Whore, and who call upon humanity to unite to correct the problem.

[29] Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel.

V.29 Those who are outside Babylon will unite against her when she is fallen, so that she cannot impose upon them again as she has before, overthrowing their elected/supported governments; supporting, training, and arming tyrants over them; imposing great burdens upon them by embargoes and trade restrictions; and many other impositions. All these were actions, and many other against her own people, were contrary to the Divine Counsel to rule with justice, mercy and compassion.

[30] Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD.

V.30 In punishment, her young men, her bullocks, and her military shall be cut off in that day, because their orientation, their learning, their attitude, is one towards war rather than towards the Lord's peace. Their pleasure, their games, their entertainment all circled about guns and war and killing and destruction - and this shall be their recompense in the social disruption that shall occur.

[31] Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.

V.31 "God Bless America", sing the Americans, and they feel that God is on their side, and that they are on God's side. True at one point, but now they are closing the churches, no longer observe the Sabbath, have removed prayer from the schools, sanctity from marriage, purity from sexual relations, morality from their books and entertainment, innocence from their children, modesty from their dress, meekness from their actions, civility from their speech, and have degraded their society in inumerable other ways. They truly turned away from God - and have become proud that they now look upon things with a scientific eye rather than what they consider the myths and fables of religion. The time has come for God's recompense.

[32] And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.

V.32 Indeed, the American cities will burn. From the race riots if from nothing else. The fires of hatred, anger, injustice are what are burning up the people. The literal fires, ignited by fearful weapons of destruction will be just a reflection of that. This pride that goes before the fall is not seen by the Americans. They will sort of never know what hit them, or at least why it hit them.

[33] Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.

V.33 The journeys of the Jews, before and after World War Two, in trying to reach Israel, paralleled those of Moses at the time of the Exodus in the nature of the obstacle put in their path. America, Canada, the UK, France and other countries all turned them away as they tried to escape the Holocaust. Every attempt was made to keep them from establishing Israel and reaching there, and many forces are trying to destroy Israel today.

[34] Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

V.34 The prophecy is that Israel will survive. Babylon won't. At least not in its present form.

[35] A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.

V.35 The Russians and the Americans are going to pretty much do each other in. MAD. MAD. MAD. (Mutual Assured Destruction).

[36] A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.

V.36 Lying. Deception. Never tell the truth in warfare. In fact always try to convice the enemy of the opposite. Same in politics. The Supreme Court of the State of Washington ruled in 2007 in a 5-4 decision that candidates for political office have a constitutionally protected right to be free from prosecution for lying in their pursuit of office, and in 2014 the US Supreme Court sustained a similar position in Susan B. Anthony List v. Driehaus, No. 13-193. It is the American way.

[37] A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.

V.37 Other than literally, one can see these things taking place as notable events in the days leading up to the culminating event.

Fuel shortages will be a sword upon the present chariots, and congestion and pollution are another. The blacks in a America are certainly a mingled race and the sword has been upon them economically and socially. In the Great Disaster the fire power of the whites will weigh heavily upon them.

Is it possible that in the last days that the men shall become as women, and while that surely does not refer to many now doing the housekeeping, it probably does not refer to sex changes, something never heard of until a few decades earlier.

The financial institutions through interest transferred the wealth of the many into the hands of the few, and through manipulation of the currency they stole from all, but none dare call it robbery.

[38] A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

V.38 Who would have thought, with all the mountains, great lakes, and rivers that America would use up its waters. But in many essential areas it has pumped its water table to practically non-existence and is having to introduce water rationing.

[39] Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.

V.39 This will apply to some archetype cities, and some other locales, but not to the whole of the American or Russian country sides, although there could be many places, especially around the radioactive waste deposits of nuclear power generating plants, similar to Fukushima, that could become like we saw with the Bikini Islands and Chernobyl.

[40] As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

V.40 Babylon's cities particularly, and some particular areas of specific ones, have become afflicted with the problem that existed in Sodom and Gomorrah, and God will deal with it in much the same way. These positions are very clearly stated throughout the Bible, and those who hold to an opposite view cannot deny them, so very often they deny God, or create some god other than the God of the Bible.

[41] Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

V.41 As emphasized throughout, the great nation from the north that will destroy Babylon the Great, is Russia. However, this will be a world-wide battle fought on many coasts of the earth.

[42] They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

V.42 Russia holds very advanced weaponry, and is experienced in warfare. Its people have suffered through war many times and know its nature as compared to the American homeland, whose present inhabitants have no experience with invasion from another country, and whose land remained pristine while wars ravaged throughout the rest of the world. For Americans, the first taste of war in their own land, will be exceptionally cruel.

[43] The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.

V.43 At the end of the last days, and just before the Great Last Battle of Armageddon, the American leaders realized they could find no solution. They looked to preserve themselves with COG (Continuity of Government) programs, and vacillated between threats to their enemies and attempts to compromise, but it became evident that there was no solution. When the time has come, as for the birth of a child, then there is no longer holding it back, and the earth is about to cast its burden.

[44] Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?

V.44 The heads of Babylon and Chaldea, of America and Russia are recognized as the most powerful in the world, and particular men are chosen by God for particular times. God alone chooses the time, and eventually determines the destiny of men and nations.

[45] Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.

V.45 So we have had explained to us the intertwined destiny of Babylon (America) and Chaldea (Russia) and their habitations are going to become desolate.

[46] At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

V.46 This last verse is certainly the most powerful, because there will a cry among all the nations as Babylon is destroyed - and the earth moved. One would not dare to explain what is meant by the earth being moved. Few believe or understand that America is Babylon The Great Whore, and find ridiculous all that has been said here. Most will ridicule the idea, or not entertain it at all, and the concept of the earth moving is not even part of their view of reality.
